RPT - TREATY

Before creating our class treaty we learned about the Treaty of Waitangi. We learned about the history of the treaty and why we celebrate the Treaty of Waitangi every year on the 6th of February.
What an awesome time to learn about this historical occasion as it was leading up to Waitangi Day weekend.
It was a great learning experience for us as we found out that some of our Troopers have not been to Waitangi. We also discovered that some Troopers travel during their holidays to neighbouring towns to Waitangi visiting whanau. Some travelled as far as Cape Reinga. Many of our Troopers have not been to Cape Reinga

However, with the help of Technology, we were able to visit and take a virtual tour of Waitangi using Google images and maps.
We made it as far as the top of the North Island visiting the lighthouse at Cape Reinga.

Our Troopers learning in groups on how to drive their google chrome using google maps and images to visit Waitangi and Cape Reinga.

You too could have a look
clink on the links below
It was an amazing trip because we didn't even leave the classroom.

When the link opens up in a new window. Click your mouse and hold it and drag the picture. It will give you a 360-degree view of the place in the photo.

We wonder where we're heading next?

We even got to sing it at the bottom

Our New ILE - Innovative Learning Environment

This year we started the year in our new upgraded ILE classroom.
ILE stands for Innovative Learning Environment. We feel so lucky to have this amazing learning space which offers us a variety of different furniture, equipment and devices that will keep us tuned into and help support our learning.
The furniture is a mixture of tables and seats of different height. We have portable devices and stationary workstations. The colours of our walls and furniture are really cool and bright. it makes you happy. We also have a breakout room that offers a quiet working space if we need it.

We also share this wonderful workspace with our neighbour the MEGAMINDS.  You will see some of their beautiful faces in our photos below.
In our ILE we work together with the MEGAMINDS for Reading at the moment. This is a very new learning style for us so we as well as the teachers are still getting familiar with it. Working together with our neighbouring class in the same learning space has been a challenging an excellent experience for us, but we hope to do a lot more in other subject areas during the year.

Here we are working out on the veranda

RPT Brand History

The History of our BRAND Name
2017 has started with a bang.
It has been a very busy journey thus far for us Troopers. Starting with the Branding our class for 2017.
The task was terribly hard as we have to listen to everyone's opinion and suggestions of what we should be called.
However, after the long task eliminating all our suggestions, we narrowed it down to five.
Lightning Strikers
Jedi Knights
Samurai Strikers
Mighty Troopers
Lightning Warriors
After selecting the five most favourable names, we voted again but we couldn't separate the five. During our lunch time, we were asked by Mr Ikitule to think about how we could use the selected names to create one or decide on which one is the one we really want the most.
After lunchtime Anahiiri shared that she has the perfect name for us. She came up with 'Rowandale PRIDE Troopers'. There were other suggestions but everyone kept referring back to the Rowandale PRIDE Troopers.
So that is how we became the 'ROWANDALE PRIDE TROOPERS'
