High Flyers Sports Rotation

The High Flyers this term will be participating in a range of sporting activities taken by our High Flyer teachers. Each class has two teams that will compete against other teams from other classes in the High Flyers. Points are awarded to each team for their sportsmanship and movement during the activity. We also select one person from each team to receive the sportsmanship award.
The sports students are competing in are Hockey, Turbo Touch, Tapuwae, Volleyball, Dodgeball, Four Square, Minor Games, and Basketball.

Term 3 - Week 1 - Cook Island language week challenge

The challenge for our Cook Island Language week was to create our own Tivaevae patterns using geometrical shapes as part of our Mathematics program.
The unit tied in very nicely with our math program as we were learning about translation, rotation and reflection under the Geometry strand. These processes were used in creating Tivaevae.

What is Tivaevae?
Tivaevae or tivaivai (Cook Islands Māori: tīvaevae) in the Cook Islands, tifaifai in French Polynesia, is a form of artistic quilting traditionally done by Polynesian women. The word literally means "patches", in reference to the pieces of material sewn together

Our troopers produced some amazing designs.
