Term 4 - Swimming

Swimming
By Michael T
One beautiful Thursday, the Rowandale Pride Troopers went to the school pool to go for a graceful swim.

Everyone went into their changing rooms and started getting dressed in their swimming clothes. Once they were all ready they all slowly lowered themselves into the bone-shivering water of the school pool and I mean literally freezing cold like the sub-zero cold.

Once we were in the bone-chilling pool, our nice teacher told us to run around in the pool which I believe was to help us get used to the water. After running around, we started racing each other in the pool with the paddleboards and also without the paddleboards.

We learned how to kick properly by kicking from the thigh like doing the hula and making sure that we "point those toes" as Mr Ikitule yells.

When we were done, we climbed out of the pool, got dressed out of our swimming clothes and into our uniforms and scrambled home because it was home time.

After all that swimming and thrashing, I was exhausted.

Using the flutterboards or otherwise called kickboard
to focus on kicking properly while gliding on our front

Trying it without the flutterboard

Kicking while on our backs
Points to note - relax, point your toes, push your hips up, don't tilt your head too far.
Here are some of our efforts
